Our second offering from the Oaxaca region of Mexico is this washed process from the Santiago Atitlan community. Considering the quality and popularity of the Oaxaca San Vicente Yogondoy that we have had for the past year, we are excited to offer you another coffee from this highly respected region while also supporting very small, community based farms that are rich in tradition and culture.

This coffee is rather bright, with its acidity coming through like dark cherry and citrus pith, complimented by robust dark chocolate and a hint of spice reminiscent of anise.

From Red Fox Coffee Merchants (importer)- “Oaxaca’s Santiago Atitlan region is marked by dense forests and heavy mists, with pronounced rainy seasons. Found in the Sierra Mixe district of the Sierra Norte province, the coffees that come from here reflect communal hard work, great altitude, preserved local varieties, rich soil, and the slow maturation that the area’s cooling mists and strong shade cover offer. The producers in the Atitlan area speak the native Mixe language. They take pride in their language, their lands, their customs, and their culture. The producers here are driven by a strong, healthy competitiveness that pushes them toward constant improvement year over year, which we at Red Fox try to support and encourage.

Amazing, well-balanced light roast. Enjoyed the first 1lb bag so much in aeropress/drip that I got another bag of beans to see how they would work for espresso, and was super happy with the results (16g in, 44g out, 8 bar, 32sec). Just got my 5lb bag to keep it rolling.
