The Kolla Bolcha co-op in the Agaro region produces some fine coffees. We first experienced coffees from this area in 2017 when we picked up some Nano Challa ( a co-op close by) but the outturn from this newer co-op, Kolla Bolcha, in our opinion surpasses even that; fully washed, bright and velvety, notes of ripe red fruit and hints of milk chocolate.
This area in Western Ethiopia has benefited tremendously from USAID’s Technoserve Project which helped establish washing stations in the region, allowing for better processing and ultimately higher prices paid to the farmers for the coffee. Thanks to the work done by our friends at Red Fox we have access to this much sought after specialty coffee.
