This one-of-a-kind coffee is from the Indonesian island of the same name.

The island boasts three highland regions producing beautiful Arabica coffees; Toraja, Kalossi and Mamasa. This Kalossi (named after the capital city of the region), is produced in the highlands south of Tana Toraja in Enrekang. The abundance of volcanic soil and the high altitude makes for perfect conditions.

This coffee is normally harvested during April/May and annual production ranges from 5,000 to 10,000 MT, mostly from smallholder farmers each governing 1 to 1.5 ha.

Previously named “Celebes” by Portuguese explorers, it is the world’s 11th largest island with the Phillipines to the North and Borneo to the West. This coffee is not really a blender as it bullies everyone around it!

Big and heavy like a ripe old Burgundy. Low in acid, like most semi-washed Indos, it brings notes of fig, pepper, spice and dark chocolate.

Try it in a Moka Pot or French Press for full effect! It’s intense.
