A blend of dark roasted coffees from the South China Seas and Latin America. Syrupy flavor envelopes the naturally sweet undertones of these coffees brought to an Italian Roast. Easy on the stomach, mellow, but full bodied. A step lighter than the French. (link) You may have tried this one before by a different name – we also call it Italian Roast and Vienna Roast!

    I was recently introduced to The Steaming Bean Coffee in Telluride at the Franz Klammer. I was pleased by the taste and quality of the coffee and doubly so when I saw their prices while ordering on line. The offerings are extensive but not burdensome in styles or sheer number. Black Magic, which is available and issued at the Franz Klammer Lodge, is the perfect coffee to me with bold flavor and smoothness that reflects the knowledge of the craft of selecting and roasting fine coffees. Black Magic has become my new “go to” coffee. Thanks guys! And keep it up.

    I look forward to the Black Magic every time I go to the Franz Klammer! I can’t wait to wake up in the morning to the robust flavor of this coffee. No lingering taste and smooth but robust. Reminds me of Telluride. So now I order it from California.

    I was visiting my sister in Colorado and the first morning there, I poured myself a cup of coffee. It was the smoothest, most perfectly balanced cup of coffee I had ever had. I was blown away. A friend of her’s who was also visiting, and is a hard core pour-over freak, brought the coffee with him. I asked him about the coffee and he told me about Steaming Bean of Teullride. I’ve been drinking the mainstream brands for years now and realized it was time to move on up to a boutique roaster. I ordered a 24 oz bag when I returned to Virginia and actually look forward to getting up in the morning so I can enjoy a little Black Magic. When it runs low, I’m going to try some of their other coffees. Steaming Bean has this process down to an art and I recommend to anyone who’s into coffee to give it a try. A+++

    We first experienced Black Magic coffee in a small book shop/coffee house in Ridgway CO several years ago and have been ordering it ever since. We have sampled it to friends in NJ who have now been ordering it. They in turn introduced their friends to it and they too have been ordering it.

    It is hard to find a dark coffee that is not over-roasted. Unlike the burnt, bitter taste like a Starbucks brand, this coffee is smooth and rich. It is probably because it is roasted fresh and not stored as roasted coffee begins to produce acid over time after roasting. This is my new favorite coffee and I am looking forward to trying more of the Telluride line up. – Bret

    My oldest son, daughter, and randomly picked up the Dark Magic from the City Market grocery store during our vacation to Steamboat Springs last December. We didn’t need much coffee for the few days we were there, and as a result we were pleasantly surprised at the high quality of coffee we purchased from the bulk bins. In the future, we will certainly be picking up more Black Magic and trying some of the other roasts at the Steaming Bean.     We first tasted Black Magic last summer when we were in Telluride for the Jazz Festival. Our daughter owns Medicine Ranch there along with Josh Geeter, & we absolutely LOVED this smooth dark coffee. We have a Rancilio Espresso Machine at home & this is one of the first times we have gotten so much “crema” from our machine. Thanks for such a delicious coffee.

    We found Black Magic in the cabinet of our AirBNB when visited Telluride in early March – before the world went crazy. We bought two big bags to take home with us as it was some of the best coffee we have had. I don’t even use half and half anymore because it is just that good alone! Now that we are home full time, we are drinking a lot more coffee. I just got my second shipment of (4) 24 ounce bags. We are also trying other blends but this still our favorite. Thanks for still roasting and delivering. We would be so sad if we didn’t have a nice cup of coffee in the morning.

    My husband and I first had black magic on our honeymoon at a ranch in Colorado. We loved this coffee from the first cup! There is zero bitterness; just bold, smooth, delicious coffee. We took a picture of the bag that was in our cabin so we could look it up. On the way home from the airport, we found the Telluride Coffee Roasters website and bought 5 pounds! Shipping was super fast and we are now enjoying black magic at home but still missing Colorado!

    I regularly order beans from Telluride Roasters. Usually I order medium blends, but I tried this dark blend for something different. It truly is Black Magic! So smooth and rich! I used to shy away from dark blends , because they tend to get bitter. Not this one! I will definitely put this in my rota!

    THE BEST! I first tried this in 2021, and did not have time to find the source. Summer 2022 back in CO, I was determined to find it and happy to find you are online. This is the BEST coffee I have had…smooth, rich, and very easy on my stomach. It is flavorful and not at all bitter like other brands. Doesn’t need creamer or sweetener with it. And I love it hot, iced, and in coffee shakes. I ordered other roasts as well to stock up and give away. And thank you Mick for your prompt response online to my inquiry.

    We first had Black Magic when visiting Telluride a few years ago. We have now been ordering it regularly since then. We have traveled extensively – US and beyond – and have tried many coffees from other coffee makers. Nothing can compete for strong but smooth dark coffee taste. If you prefer a dark coffee, we also recommend Black Canyon and Cimmaron. But we always come back to Black Magic.
